AHTS @5: What We’ve Built and What Comes Next

As we step into a new year, we pause not only to reflect but to mark a milestone  In 2026, the Africa HealthTech Summit turns five.

Five years of convening across borders.
Five years of building trust across sectors.
Five years of evolving from a bold idea into a platform that shapes real conversations, partnerships,    and outcomes for health systems across Africa.

AHTS 2025 was a powerful reflection of that journey.

What began as a convening has become an ecosystem, shaped by partners who show up not just to speak, but to contribute, challenge, and co-create. The 2025 Summit was anchored in this shared effort, and its success was the result of deep collaboration across the public sector, private sector, development partners, innovators, and youth leaders.

From sessions on scaling diagnostics and laboratory systems with partners such as Abbott, to critical discussions on health financing, sustainability, and impact acceleration led by the Global Fund, the Summit consistently moved beyond theory and into practice. Conversations on AI, data governance, and intelligent health systems, supported by partners including the Gates Foundationreinforced a clear shift: innovation must be people-centred, prevention-oriented, and built for scale.

Across plenaries, closed-door roundtables, and workshops, partners explored what it truly takes to modernize health systems  from digital public infrastructure and primary health care digitization, to workforce development, predictive approaches to non-communicable diseases, and resilient delivery models. What emerged was a shared understanding that progress is not driven by isolated solutions, but by coordinated systems and sustained collaboration.

What Comes Next in 2026

AHTS 2026 will take place in Kigali from 30 September to 2 October 2026, and our experience over the past five years has shown us that the most impactful participation is never last-minute. It is shaped early, aligned to clear objectives, and designed to deliver value well beyond the Summit itself.

SAVE THE DATE AHTS

Alongside this, we are preparing for AHTS x Canada, taking place in Toronto on 4–5 June 2026. This roadshow represents the natural evolution of a maturing platform extending African-led health innovation into global policy, capital, science, and diaspora networks, while remaining firmly anchored in the priorities that will converge again in Kigali later in the year.

As AHTS enters its fifth year, our focus sharpens on collaboration that delivers, deeper partnerships, clearer outcomes, and a continued commitment to systems that prioritise wellness, prevention, and people.
We are deeply grateful to every partner who has walked this journey with us and excited for what we will build next.
