AHTS in partnership with WDI

On behalf of the Africa HealthTech Summit (AHTS), we are pleased to announce a long-term strategic partnership with the William Davidson Institute (WDI) at the University of Michigan, aimed at accelerating health innovation and entrepreneurship across Africa. Through this collaboration, WDI joins AHTS as a knowledge and summit partner, bringing its expertise in entrepreneurship, market systems, and emerging economies to strengthen the impact, depth, and global reach of our platform.

What this partnership will deliver

Through this partnership, we will jointly deliver:

  • Joint thought leadership on healthtech innovation, financing, and scale-up
  • Curated ecosystem engagements at AHTS Rwanda 2026 and AHTSx Canada 2026
  • Strengthened public-private partnerships across Africa and globally
  • Expanded Africa–North collaboration pathways

The partnership also includes a media collaboration with WDI’s NextBillion platform, which will provide coverage and analysis of AHTS events while amplifying insights on health innovation across emerging markets.

Leadership Perspectives

Jean-Philbert Nsengimana, Chairman and Chief Curator, AHTS, noted: “WDI brings world-class expertise in entrepreneurship and emerging markets development. This partnership enhances both the intellectual rigour and global reach of the Africa HealthTech Summit.”

Wendy Taylor, President and CEO of WDI, added: “We are excited to work alongside African innovators addressing critical gaps in healthcare access, quality, and equity. Together with AHTS, we are building ecosystems that are locally driven and globally connected.”
